French Onion Soup Mix
A richly satisfying onion soup.
1 packet Just In Time Gourmet® French Onion Soup Mix
4 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/2 of a 16-ounce loaf of French bread cut into 6 thick slices
4 cups water
6 slices provolone cheese
• Preheat oven to broil. Place bread on a baking sheet and put under broiler. Toast one side, turn, place a slice of cheese on top and toast until cheese is melted. Remove from oven; set aside.
• In a large soup pot, melt butter over medium high heat and sauté onion until translucent. Add soup mix and water; bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn off heat.
• Divide soup into 6 bowls and distribute onions evenly.
• Place toasted cheese bread on top of each bowl of soup and serve immediately.
